Telephone

All Change

Well, I sat down and had a look at what I spend a month on communications... here's what I found out:

Land-line rental: £10.50
Caller Display: £1.75
Call Diversion: £1.75
Landline Calls: ~£5.00
Broadband Internet: £25.00
Mobile Line Rental: £20.00
Mobile Add-on: £3.00
Mobile Calls: £2.00

Total: £69.00... ouch!

A little looking around, and I came up with the following solution:

Landline rental: £11.00 (+£0.50) (Move back to BT)
Caller Display: £0.00 (-£1.75) (Move back to BT)
Call Diversion: £1.75 (No change) (Move back to BT)
Landline Calls: £3.00 (-£2.00) (Use Call 18185 and 1899 with Planet Talk's Saver package and Equitalk)
Broadband Internet: £20.00 (Move to Demon)
Mobile Line Rental: £0.00 (-£20.00) (Ditch contract with vodafone, use O2's online 300 PAYG Talk and Text option).
Mobile Add-ons: £0.00 (-£3.00) (300 texts included on O2 PAYG package)
Mobile Calls: £10.00 (+£8.00) (Minimum £10/pm topup for pacakge)

Total: £45.75 ... a saving of £23.25/pm.

Aaah, I feel better now.

Retrospective.....

Well, I suppose that you get to a certain point in your life where you look back at the people that you have known, and why you haven't kept in touch. Over the past few weeks, I've been phoning people I haven't spoken to in ages, and e-mailing those I haven't contacted. Indeed, I found myself searching through a deluge of saved e-mail (some dating back to 2000!) to find addresses to get hold of people.

It's been nice speaking to these people, finding out what's been happening over the last few years, and how things have changed for them. I feel a little left out really, as I don't feel that I've moved on terrifically. Okay, I've passed some professional exams, moved up from my original starting salary after I finished Uni, and I've saved some cash for a house deposit, but really where am I? Nowhere.

I don't own a house, I don't have anyone close, and I don't have a lot to show for 7 years outside of Uni, and in work. Perhaps Dip CII after my name, yes, but who cares about a Telly-tubby who follows you (say it Dip-see!).

What I can say though is that I've been to places that some other people can only dream of. 2000, saw Belgium. 2001 - France, Germany, Poland, Belarus, Russia, Finland, Sweden, Denmark. 2002 - France, Belgium, Germany, Poland, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Austria. 2003 - France, Germany, Hungary, Romania. 2004 - USA (Minnesota). 2005 - Finland and Switzerland. 2006 - Switzerland. 2007 - Finland. I've been to watch World class Ice Hockey, and I've stood in Red Square. 2007, providing I can get tickets, I'll see Eurovision. All pretty cool really.

Anyway, I'm depressing myself and getting excited at the same time. Not a good combination. ::LOL::
